I've Moved!

Currently finishing up the 2nd half of my ~3rd year and so much has changed. I use the tilde as I only have been sporadically racing and last year was the first year I did a full season with a club. As you can see from the photo above I've change classes, cars, and even started up my own racing brand.

The Off Season

So this is one of the lovely things I'm tending to this off season... a torn Axle Boot. Not a big deal, and a relatively easy fix, but just one of the many things to iron out while not racing. Sadly, my car is still my DD during the winter so it is taking some un-needed abuse. Abuse that I believe will lead me to purchase a new (to me) set of coilovers. Though my to-do list may not be too terribly long, I am not looking forward to tackling it.

To Do:
• Replace radiator and hope that fixes the brown coolant issue (yikes)
• Pads, Rotors, and Fluid
• Fix clicking from clutch safety switch
• Clutch, Flywheel, TOB
• Convince more people/companies to sponsor me (HUGE thanks to my current sponsors)

Avoid Rubber Obstructions

As the old saying goes, an image is worth 1000 words. TSSCC Event 5 of the 2014 Championship Season went down yesterday at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates Illinois. Thanks to the team at APM Tuned I was able to get most of the maintenance I wanted to do on my car in preparation from this event based on the results of previous events. Basically, I was cavitating my power steering system (because I suck at racing and over input). I decided to try and help alleviate this issue I would have the fluid replaced along with some other fluids (differential, transmission, and brakes). All of this definitely helped the car feel more solid, but since I can't seem to avoid hitting a pylon on my best runs of the day I only managed to take home 5th/16. If I hadn't of cone'd I would have been 2nd; this makes 3 events in a row where a cone on my best run has cost me 2nd in class. Time for more seat time and maybe I need to find a book about "Zen and the Art of Cone Avoidance." Until then I'll just beat myself up about it a little bit and hope to get 'em next weekend in Joliet with Chicago Region SCCA.

Placeholder for the eventual upload of the aforementioned run... if I ever decide it is worth editing/uploading.

At least this time the hiatus was only 2 months...

I'm back in the cockpit, or at least I was this weekend. There was a TSSCC and Chicago Region SCCA Twin Solo at Route 66 speedway in Joliet. Though the weekend didn't go as I would have liked it to have, I only have myself and the cones I destroyed to blame. Saturday I ended up 6/16 in class when I could have been 2nd had I not hit the cone(s) I did, and Sunday I placed 3/15 in class when again I could have been 2nd due to cone blood. I just need to get some more seat time and get some more seat time, oh and did I mention getting more seat time.

On a more positive note, I did a shakedown event with the Windy City Miata Club on the 17th of August where I managed to place first in class (Rally Class) and one this sweet mug:

7 Month Hiatus Re-Cap

I never fail to disappoint. I know I will sound like a broken record when saying, it's been a while since my last post. That being said, this is going to be a particularly long post as I want to do some recap for y'all.
